April 2024 Highlights

A MESSAGE FROM OUR EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Spring is in full swing, and so are the arts at Lehigh. Experience the unique blend of historic music by Aaron Copland and Sam Cooke and images by Gordon Parks paired with the contemporary Nimbus Dance. Violinist Diane Monroe will take you on a musical journey, bridging a variety of genres. The Music Department offers a diverse range of concerts, and the Department of Theatre presents the thought-provoking This Emancipation Thing. Take advantage of the opportunity to be part of Strike Anywhere's free one-of-a-kind POP UP experience at the end of April. We look forward to your participation. With Gratitude, Mark Fitzgerald Wilson

Violinist Diane Monroe's versatility and expressive artistry consistently bring audiences to their feet. In this piece, she crafts a musical memoir that bridges jazz, classical, and traditional African music, revaling an African-American violinist's trials and triumphs. The composition provides a framework for improvisations by each player and weaves a musical narrative that incorporates sound, visual art and spoken word.

DEPARTMENT OF THEATRE: THIS EMANCIPATION THING | APR 12 - 20
A feminist multimedia consciousness-raising session. With reproductive rights slipping through our fingers, what wisdom must we learn from the activists who ushered in Roe v. Wade? Archival texts from 1968 and interview transcripts with feminists of all ages and genders create a collaborative installation that collapses time.

Join us for Mother's Day to enjoy this historical 400-year-old art form. And the best part? Tickets are only $10 with promo code OPERA, offering you an affordable way to experience this cultural event.

DARLENE LOVE: LOVE SONGS | FRI MAY 17
The legendary Darlene Love is returning to Zoellner to perform Love Songs. She has captivated audiences worldwide through the years with her warm, gracious stage presence and superb performances. She is in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and a featured guest on Cher's top-charting Christmas album. Rolling Stone has proclaimed Love to be "one of the greatest singers of all time," and that certainly rings true, but perhaps Paul Shaffer said it even more concisely: "Darlene Love is Rock N' Roll!" We appreciate Air Products' support of this concert, which allows us to bring such incredible talent to our community.
