Established in 1956, the Shanghai Opera Symphony Orchestra is renowned for its interpretation of classical works. This tour marks their debut in North America. Repertoire: The Butterfly Lovers Violin Concerto by Zhanhao and Gang, Berlioz’s Symphonie fantastique Op. 14 and Rossini’s Barber of Seville Overture. FREE Curtain Warmer | 3pm | Lecture | Andrew Cassano, Zoellner Arts Center Administrative Director
Before coming to Zoellner Arts Center, Cassano served as vice president of artistic administration and operations at the Rochester Philharmonic and Hartford Symphony Orchestras. He will give fascinating history and background on the three pieces performed by Shanghai Opera Symphony, as well as stories of how Berlioz and the first performance of his symphony came to be, which changed the sound of western classical music.
