Discussion led by Alice Parker
Choral Composing Legend and Joyful Noise Choir

For many years, Alice Parker partnered with Robert Shaw, considered to be the leading choral conductor of the 20th century, to create some of the classic arrangements of the choral repertoire. In recent years, Parker has been honored with countless awards. At 91, she is one of the giants of the profession and has been part of the Joyful Noise family since the beginning. She has written for them, and one of her original pieces, “All The Stars In the Sky,” is featured in the LU Choral Arts upcoming May performance. Her talk will cover the genesis and development of Joyful Noise, writing for the group, and share her insights into making music with learning on all levels.
